COMPLETED PROJECTS
Michael J. and Mary Meech Mungo Park
Keep the Midlands Beautiful received a 2019 Keep America Beautiful Community Restoration and Resiliency Fund (CRRF) grant in the amount of $20,000 to restore a washed-out bridge that once connected 116 acres of green space at the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission’s Michael J. & Mary Meech Mungo Park, formerly known as Rawls Creek Golf Course. ICRC has scheduled bridge replacement for completion by June 30, 2020. The new bridge will reconnect the park and abate litter, illegal dumping, and crime in the area. THE Meech House (formerly known as the Rawls Creek Clubhouse) has undergone a complete renovation and is scheduled to open by Summer 2020.
Feasibility Study by the Central Midlands Regional Planning Council
As of July 2019, the Central Midlands Regional Planning Council is in the process of completing a feasibility study that will qualify the project for potential federal funding to support our efforts for beautification, neighborhood stabilization, and economic development along the Greenway.
